There is no scientific evidence for a starting point in morality or ethics. Science can only look at the behavior patterns and make educated guesses about how this behavior might have evolved. Science studies the world “From the beginning” and Theology “In the beginning” of course many secular scientists would disregard the Theologian due to lack of proof these days unlike prior to the 19th century where the two practices were more closely related.
